The front sliding sash is safety interlocked to the UV lights so that the UV light will not operate unless the sash is fully closed. The UV light functions in connection with a timer mechanism, to a maximum of 99 minutes. The cabinet is fitted with an internal light for good illumination.

Air is drawn in through a pre filter and a HEPA filter to protect the work within the cabinet. The pre-filter protects the HEPA filter from dust and the HEPA filter is 99.997% efficient at removing particles of 0.3m diameter and above.

The unit is fitted with an alarm system to warn of low airflow, the normal downflow air velocity is 0.45m/s.
