The Decontakit™ is an automatic, formaldehyde based decontamination system for microbial contaminants. It is intended primarily for Biological Safety Cabinets but can be used for any other equipment, particularly incubators. Fumigation by formaldehyde followed by neutralisation of the formaldehyde thus eliminating the need for exhausting the fumigant to the outside or to a fume-hood as is usually the case.
The system comprises a four-pan heater unit with an automatic timer control, housed complete with accessories and chemicals, in a handy, briefcase sized carrying case.
The cabinet, with the pan heater unit, water and reagents inside, is enclosed in the heavy-duty plastic bag and tape sealed. This overcomes the problem of cabinets with non-sealing view screens. The timer unit automatically heats the pans sequentially, first to humidify then to fumigate the cabinet for the required time. Finally the system generates ammonia that neutralises the formaldehyde fumigant. At the end of the process there is no residual formaldehyde to create any hazard when the cabinet is opened. The process can be conveniently carried out overnight.
The Decontakit™ is supplied complete with carrying case, two plastic bags (to fit 1200mm cabinets) and chemicals sufficient for two decontamination runs. Replacement heavy-duty bags are available in two sizes (h x d x w): 1600mm x 1100mm x 1600mm for 1200mm cabinets, or 1600mm x 1100mm x 2200mm for 1800mm cabinets (for decontaminating equipment other than biological safety cabinets, e.g. incubators please contact us if different bag sizes are required). Replacement chemical kits are sufficient for one decontamination run.
If you have any requirements we will be only to happy to give friendly help and advice on how to proceed.
