Ductless Fume Cupboard

This is designed to offer the scientist an efficient low cost laminar flow cabinet. The base unit is manufactured from 6mm clear PVC and is 640 x 640mms. Internal lights, fan speed control and an air flow alarm can all be added as optional extras but are not essential to the operation of the cabinet. The unit sits straight on to the bench and has no base, an optional spillage base is available.

The top filter box is constructed in 6mm white polypropylene with 9mm flanges. The main HEPA filter provides 99.997% filtration of particles 0.3 micron diameter or larger. The main filter is protected by a pre-filter. The unit is supplied with 10 prefilters.

Please note that the above design can be modified by replacing the HEPA filter with a carbon filter and reversing the flow to become a ductless fume cupboard (EDF-640)

Similarly the same design with the HEPA filter in place, the pre-filter below the HEPA filter and the flow reversed the unit becomes a safe weighing station (SWS-640)

Finally the ductless fume cupboard design can have the flow reversed to provide a chemically clean area within a laboratory environment. (ERDF-640)

The EDF range of ductless fume cupboards
The bottom section of the fume cupboard is of clear PVC. The top box which is made from white polypropylene houses the filter and fan. The charcoal filter is protected from dust by a pre filter. The front is open and has no closure. An alarm for low air flow is included. Filter saturation can be detected by Gastech tube analysis. Minimum face air velocity is 0.5 m/s.in line with BS5728. The EDF range has no base so it can be placed on to a bench and the work surface could then be protected by 'benchcoat' for example. If a base to the hood is preferred then an optional white polypropylene spillage tray is available - this can be made under size so that the tray fits inside the fume cupboard or alternatively can be made oversize so that the fume cupboard fits inside the spillage tray - providing an internal work surface. The face air velocity can be made infinitely controllable by an optional fan speed controller on the front panel. The built in fan is very quiet, less than 55 dB. Internal lights are included as standard.
Power to any apparatus inside the fume cupboard is provided for by having an indent in the bottom edge of the working chamber which will fit over a power cable
